The Packaged App Development Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of critical database systems, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. This role involves ensuring database performance, security, and availability, while leading efforts to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database administration, strong technical expertise, and a proactive approach to optimizing database environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Management & Administration:

  • Design, implement, and maintain database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) to ensure high performance, availability, and scalability.

  • Perform database tuning, optimization, and capacity planning to meet business needs.

  • Manage database backups, recovery plans, and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.

Technical Expertise:

  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal response times.

  • Implement and enforce database security measures, including user access controls, encryption, and compliance with industry standards.

  • Stay updated with the latest database technologies, patches, and industry trends to recommend improvements.

Operational Excellence:

  • Develop and enforce best practices for database monitoring, maintenance, and performance tuning.

  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure database reliability and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with application development teams to optimize database queries and schema designs.

Problem Resolution & Support:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for database-related issues and escalations.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues promptly to minimize impact on business operations.

  • Manage database upgrades, migrations, and patch applications with minimal disruption.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with IT teams, developers, and business stakeholders to understand database requirements and deliver solutions.

  • Provide regular reports on database performance, capacity, and issues to stakeholders.

  • Ensure high-quality service delivery by maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a Database Administrator with expertise in Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and/or PostgreSQL.

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale, high-availability database environments.

  • Strong technical background in database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security.

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL database management and administration.

  • Proficiency in database monitoring tools and techniques (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, pgAdmin).

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex database issues.

  • Knowledge of database security practices and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Python) for automation and maintenance tasks.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL database administration.

  • Expertise in database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high-availability configurations.

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MySQL Database Administrator, or PostgreSQL Certified Professional are a plus.

  • Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in managing and optimizing Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues efficiently.
