Role: Storage Architecture and Design Role Description: The Storage Architecture and Design (Level 3) is responsible for the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of enterprise storage infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. This role involves high-level planning and hands-on engineering of storage systems to support mission-critical workloads, disaster recovery, and high availability. As a SME, this person works closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and leadership to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and security of data storage platforms. Candidate should have 14 years of experience in Storage and Backup technologies. 8–10 years of experience in enterprise storage architecture, design, and engineering. Must Have Skills: Storage and Backup Architecture and Design (EMC Storage, HP, Brocade, Cisco SAN switches), Python & Shell Scripting, Cloud and Dev ops skills Ansible etc. Good to Have Skills: Backup Technologies – NetBackup, Rubrik, Operating System – Windows/Linux Job Requirements Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing storage solutions across SAN, NAS, object storage, and cloud platforms. • Develop storage architecture standards, patterns, and documentation for enterprise use cases (e.g., virtualization, databases, file services). • Lead storage implementations, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle planning. • Provision, configure, and tune storage arrays, switches, and related components. • Implement storage zoning, LUN masking, multipathing, and redundancy mechanisms. • Design and support hybrid storage • On-prem to cloud replication and archive strategies • Evaluate and integrate cloud-native storage and backup technologies into existing environments. • Architect data protection strategies including snapshots, replication, and metro cluster designs. • Work with backup and recovery teams to align storage with BC/DR plans. • Implement storage-layer redundancy for fault tolerance and resiliency. • Monitor storage performance and utilization; analyze I/O patterns and trends. • Forecast growth and conduct storage health assessments. • Lead initiatives for storage optimization (e.g., deduplication, tiering, thin provisioning). • Enforce data encryption, secure access controls, and storage audit logging. • Maintain documentation for regulatory audits and infrastructure reviews. • Act as a technical lead for storage projects and mentor junior engineers. • Engage vendors for solution evaluations, support escalations, and roadmap planning. • Create and update documentation for storage and Backup procedures. Technical Experience: • Should have sound experience in EMC Unity, VNX, VMAX, Powerscale, High Availability, Disk technologies, RAID Levels, Flashpool, Flexclone, Configuring & restoring backups, Upgrades • Good Knowledge and hands on experience with DevOps technologies, Python/Shell scripting etc • Good Knowledge on NAS and SAN • Good knowledge on CIFS, NFS, ISCSI and FCP protocols. • Experience with installation, configuration and management of storage arrays and switches expected. • Experience with Brocade and Cisco SAN Switches. • Experience on Storage Pools, Tiering, LUN masking and zoning. • Experience on backup technologies – NetBackup, Rubrik etc • Proven skills in understanding customer storage requirements, implementing Fiber Channel and iSCSI SAN solutions, and integrating different operating systems and applications. • Should have knowledge about the ITIL framework. • Relevant certifications will be an added advantage. Key Competencies and Professional Attributes: • Deep understanding of storage tiering, performance tuning, and capacity forecasting. • Analytical and troubleshooting mindset; proactive risk identification. • Strong communication skills to present architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Ability to manage multiple projects and lead infrastructure initiatives. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills. • Strong time management skills, problem solving and analytical skills. • Supervise the team. • Perform team management roles • Due to the 24X7 operations of the business, must be able to work a flexible work schedule, may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
