Job Summary:

As a RHEL Engineer within GIPS Banking, you will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems that support critical banking operations. You will contribute to system reliability, security compliance, and automation initiatives across hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities:

System Administration & Maintenance

  • Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers across production, development, and disaster recovery environments.
  • Perform system patching, upgrades, and kernel tuning.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot OS-level issues.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement system hardening and SELinux policies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal security standards and external audit requirements.
  • Manage user access controls and secure file systems.

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Support infrastructure-as-code initiatives and CI/CD integration.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with application, database, and DevOps teams to support deployments and resolve incidents.
  • Participate in change management, incident response, and root cause analysis.
  • Document procedures and contribute to operational knowledge bases.

Qualifications

Junior to Mid-Level (2–5 years)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration, preferably RHEL.
  • Familiarity with RHEL 7/8/9 environments and basic shell scripting.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and system monitoring tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) is a plus.

Senior Developer (6+ years)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in enterprise Linux engineering with deep RHEL expertise.
  • Proficiency in system performance tuning, kernel optimization, and automation (Ansible, Terraform).
  • Experience in hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and documentation capabilities.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent certification preferred.
