Post-Doctoral Research Associate - Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (Multiple Positions)
Regular, Full-time, Pay Grade 00
A Post-Doctoral Research Assoicate position is available in Dr. Trinh’s laboratory in The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
The candidate will work on a DOE-funded project that fundamentally studies robustness of thermophiles (e.g., Clostridium thermocellum, Bacillus coagulans) and engineer them as efficient and robust biocatalysts for biosynthesis of biofuels and biochemicals from lignocellulosic biomass.
This project is a collaboration between Trinh lab at The University of Tennessee Knoxville and research scientists at The Oak Ridge National Laboratory and The US Department of Agriculture.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Qualified applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, microbiology, or related fields with a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
Candidates with strong skills and backgrounds in metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, protein engineering, bacterial genetics, molecular cloning, fermentation, high-throughput screening, analytical techniques,
CRISPR gene editing, metabolism, and/or bioinformatics are highly preferred. The position is on one-year basis and can be extended based on research progress and successful performance of the selected candidate.
