The University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for a Multimedia Specialist in the College of Communication and Information (CCI).

The Position: The Multimedia Specialist will collaborate with the CCI Media Center team to develop fresh and engaging programming across various formats - from social media videos and multimedia projects to student-produced television. The Multimedia Specialist will provide mentorship to students involved in The Media Center, maintaining systems and equipment that enable students to thrive and produce multimedia content. The incumbent will also be responsible for producing innovative content for diverse platforms in conjunction with professional and student personnel of The Media Center.

The Multimedia Specialist is expected to:

· Advise on the most effective use of multimedia tools and technologies for various project needs (video, audio, graphics, animation).

· Facilitate knowledge sharing and training sessions on multimedia topics.

· Define and maintain student performance expectations through ongoing feedback, coaching, and accountability measures, including oversight of student leaders' training, scheduling, and management of student staff and volunteers.

· Work with students and other stakeholders to develop and grow the media properties.

· Oversee and maintain an inclusive, creative, and professional organizational culture that supports and extends classroom instruction and fosters student growth both as career preparation and in service to the campus and community.

· Help develop on-boarding materials for students entering media production roles within Media Center organizations.

· Provide editorial support and mentoring for students involved in television and video production.

· Ensure all multimedia content is optimized for various platforms and devices.

· Assist with the production of student-led, television-style programming produced by TVC, including a daily news brief, weekly news program, sports television show, and an interview-based lifestyle television show.

· Provide technical support for studio, field, and live video production by Media Center properties.

· Maintain studio, field, and live video production equipment.

· Work with Media Center organizations to develop collaborative products.

· Create effective workflows for all phases of the production process.

· Support the commercial videos production efforts by the Media Center and Media Center organizations.

· Assist at large scale programs and events for the Media Center and Media Center properties.

· Work with Media Center properties and CCI IT and Facilities to develop equipment purchasing and use plans.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates are required to possess:

· Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.

· Three years of experience in multimedia field.

· Experience advising or mentoring others in a creative field.

· Eight or more years of related experience can be used in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.

· Advanced knowledge in the Adobe CC software, including Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.

· Knowledge of Associated Press ENPS and Playbook Software.

· Knowledge of Ross television production equipment, software and workflow.

· Advanced knowledge of multimedia processes and workflows.

· Advanced knowledge of video production equipment, including cameras and lighting equipment.

· Ability to collaborate with other Media Center staff and organizations.

· Ability to create and effectively communicate workflow processes and other on-boarding processes to incoming students.

Our ideal candidate has:

· Experience working in or leading student media organizations.

· Knowledge of AP Style and other norms of the field of journalism.

· Ability to be a leader, handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight completion deadlines, work independently and communicate effectively.

· Ability to use and teach students to use content management software for the various student media outlets.

· Knowledge of audio editing for videos and for audio-only projects, such as interviews and podcasts.

· Ability to mentor students in all aspects of video production, including video storytelling.
