The Position: The Tickle College of Engineering (TCE) at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications and nominations for the Assistant/Associate Director of Finance & Administration (F&A). The Assistant/Associate Director of Finance & Administration supports the Director with financial operations of the Tickle College of Engineering (TCE) which manages annual expenditures of more than $190 million. This position will have oversight of the Finance & Administration Office under the direction of the Director. This position will oversee day-to-day cash flow transactions, travel and expense reimbursements, vendor payments, procurement, contracts, assets, space, etc., using procedures that are transparent and compliant with TCE and university policies. This position is required to work in the office on the Knoxville campus.

Salary - Market Range 13: The salary for this position is commensurate with the qualified level of experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for the Assistant Director level: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field

•Five years of progressively responsible accounting or business management experience including supervisory experience with associates at various levels of engagement including but not limited to accounting and support staff

Required qualifications for the Associate Director level: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field

• Eight years of progressively responsible accounting or business management experience including supervisory experience with associates at various levels of engagement including but not limited to accounting and support staff. Financial work history at a comprehensive research university, preferably in college or campus level setting.

Minimum Required Skills and Abilities:

• Experience providing advice, guidance, and analysis to senior leadership

• Knowledge of standard accounting principles

• Professional integrity, including a thorough understanding of confidentiality.

• Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient for effective interactions with a broad range of individuals, including faculty

• Excellent writing, grammar, and proofreading skills

• Decisiveness and extensive problem-solving skills

• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize

• Ability to work independently or on a team

• Ability to generate and analyze ad hoc reports

Desired qualifications:

• Master’s degree in business or related field

• Financial work history at a comprehensive research university (Assistant)

• Working knowledge of Oracle, Argos, and Banner

• Knowledge of UT fiscal policies and procedures

• CPA or CMA
