HVAC/Refrigerant Technician
MR07 – Starting rate dependent on candidate experience and qualifications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Perform routine preventative maintenance and service tasks on HVAC/Refrigerant (HVAC/R) systems to ensure efficient operation.
· Troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration components such as compressors, motors, condensers, and evaporators.
· Diagnose electrical and mechanical defects and malfunctions in HVAC/R systems by visual inspection and through the use of testing devices.
· Test and calibrate HVAC/R systems for optimal performance.
· Comply with all safety standards and regulations while performing work.
· Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
· Report and correct any unsafe practices or conditions to supervision.
· Respond to emergency service calls for HVAC and refrigeration repairs.
· Study technical materials and repair manuals to increase knowledge of equipment and systems used on campus and the safety protocols needed for safe operation of all systems.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to understand standard equipment operating and handling safety protocols.
· Mechanical knowledge and skills to service and repair HVAC/R systems and related equipment.
· Ability to follow given instructions and maintain accurate records.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED
· Valid Driver’s license
· 5-years of experience or a combination of trade school and experience. Experience may substitute for education on a year-to-year basis
· EPA Section 608 Certification
· Ability to wear a respirator and other assigned PPE
