Digital Media Specialist, College of Veterinary Medicine
The College of Veterinary Medicine is looking for a video storyteller who independently creates a wide range of high-quality visual content, both internal and external, to help raise the public awareness of the college. This position will be responsible for creation, design, and execution of original video, photographic, and written content that tells the college’s stories and its mission of teaching, discovery, and service. The position will independently develop from concept to completion newsworthy feature articles, website content, and social media posts, and assist in the management of the content for the college’s social media presence. The position will work collaboratively with the college’s media relations, the dean’s office, and across the college to provide innovative and creative communications solutions to further enhance the marketing and outreach efforts and produce education content for veterinary students. Longer format instructional videos are utilized regularly within didactic classroom and laboratory environments. Videos are also made available to veterinary students through web-based instruction. Position will work with standard office equipment both mechanical and electronic. A flexible schedule involving some weekends and holidays will be required. Working in close proximity to large and small animals indoors and outdoors, in a hospital environment including treatment rooms, surgical areas, and laboratories, will be necessary.
Qualifications
Typical Responsibilities:
- Independently set strategy for original video and photographic content, including medical educational videos for students and clients.
- Independently produce compelling and impactful content for internal and external use including, but not limited to, news releases, social media posts, and other innovative ways of engaging the media and the public.
- Cultivate relationships with college faculty, staff, and students to develop open communication about what newsworthy events and stories are happening throughout the college.
- Independently create engaging media content to promote college events and tell the stories of the college.
- Monitor social media.
- Independently film and edit videos for online continuing education programs offered by the college.
- Has full responsibility for making creative decisions.
- Presents work to client for quality assurance review.
- Maintain a searchable database of videos and photographs.
- Stay current with latest video trends, styles, techniques, and industry standards.
- Be prepared to provide support during emergency or crisis management.
- Contribute to the college’s success by accepting other duties as assigned.
- Contributes to the overall creative direction of the college by influencing internal and external reputation, influencing students' instructional materials, and working alongside other staff responsible for creating original content.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Digital Media, Journalism, Design or relevant field.
- 2 years of relevant experience.
The Veterinary Medical Center is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year. Occasional weekend, evening, or holiday work may be required of this position.
