Vehicle Technician
The University of Tennessee’s Career Gateway is looking to fill the temporary assignment of Vehicle Technician with Fleet Management. Through temporary assignment placements, Career Gateway allows the opportunity to work with various departments while gaining valuable work experience. Please note that Career Gateway temporary positions do not have benefits, annual leave, or sick leave accrual.
Pay Rate: $16.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30-4:30 This position can offer Part-Time hours, however, prefers someone who can work Full-Time hours.
Job Length: Approximately 10 months
- Vehicle sourcing and purchasing
- New vehicle inspections
- Servicing
- Repair
- Fuel management
- Telematics management
- Roadside assistance
- Documentation management
- Eventual surplus
- Ensuring proper inspection and repair of all vehicles assigned to the University of Tennessee in accordance with OEM specifications.
- Complete various routine preventative maintenance tasks on vehicles including (but not limited to):
- Oil changes
- Tire changes/rotations
- Brake pad and rotor replacements
- New vehicle check in procedures
- Vehicle retirement procedures
- Assist with parts and vehicle pick-ups
- Complete roadside assistance requests on campus
- Complete mid-level diagnostic and repair work for various repairs including
- HVAC troubleshooting
- Steering component troubleshooting
- Suspension component troubleshooting
- Assist with occasional routine part ordering and reconciliation
- Ensuring proper UT vehicle documentation is included in vehicles
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Assist with fleet software to ensure proper record keeping
- Assist with high quality customer experiences including occasional ticket-writing tasks
- Occasional manual hand washing and vacuuming of vehicles
- Any other tasks as required

We're looking for a part-time to full-time position over the next year for a vehicle service tech. This individual is preferred to have formal training and/or work experience working in a shop environment, but we're willing to talk that out with any interested applicant. We predominately service light duty sedans, vans, and SUVs. We also maintain medium and some heavy duty equipment to a lesser degree. Uniforms and a boot allowance will be offered. We prefer 40 hours, but are willing to offer less hours.
