General Description:

The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services (UT CIS) is seeking a Health, Safety and Emergency Preparedness (HSEP) Consultant. The HSEP Consultant is a key employee of a growing team that provides training and consulting in emergency response, OSHA requirements, hazardous waste management/operations, regulatory compliance and other related areas. HSEP customers include manufacturers, public safety agencies, utilities, medical centers and other organizations throughout Tennessee. UTCIS mission is to help customers achieve their goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Health, Safety & Emergency Preparedness (HSEP) Consultant provides training and consulting services to organizations across Tennessee. The HSEP Consultant develops and delivers on-site and in-plant training that may include HAZWOPER, Emergency Response/Preparedness, DOT training and other health/safety courses. The Consultant also provides technical assistance to customers that may include audits, and safety & health written programs. Work directly with customers to determine needs, perform assessment and provide a solution.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a health, safety, or emergency preparedness/response field; health, safety and emergency response/preparedness training and consulting experience preferred; current certifications related to position duties preferred.

Skills:

This position will need the ability to relate with HSEP customers, engage adult learners and assist with growing the HSEP program. Knowledge of current and evolving HSEP trends and initiatives; ability to build collaborative relationships with other CIS teams and partners; demonstrated communication skills, including listening, presentation, and writing skills; ability to use Microsoft Office software and learn various UT operating systems; ability to develop and deliver training programs; ability to safely pull equipment trailers.

Location:

Statewide: The position could be located at any CIS location including Knoxville, Nashville, Johnson City, Jackson, Chattanooga, or Memphis.

The position will require overnight travel.
