Reporting to the Assistant Business Manager, the Financial Assistant provides support by performing financial, and administrative functions of the unit. This position will provide purchasing support services, ordering offices supplies, and handles procurement card audit requests. This position will maintain proper files for record retention, answer phones, greet unit/department guests, assist students and faculty, assist with department events. They will also organize faculty candidate searches.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
• A high school diploma or GED with one year of experience in accounting and/or an HR role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks based on the needs of others and with time-sensitive deadlines.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office (Adept in Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint)
• Ability to learn and utilize new technology
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Associate’s degree in a field related to business, HR Management, or a degree related to the position’s duties.
• Licenses or certifications related to accounting, business, or HR.
• Experience in an academic environment.
• Experience hiring foreign nationals and communicating with non-native English speakers.
• Experience in procurement/purchasing
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
•Knowledge of financial / personnel management applications such as SAP/IRIS.
•Knowledge of personnel maintenance processes incl. hiring, I-9 e-verification, and USCIS (visa) processes.
