Job Description
The Finance Manager supervises the day-to-day management of the University Housing business and finance area and develops training and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency. Additionally, this position provides analysis of budget-to-actuals to assist the Director of Business and Finance; serves as a financial and payroll resource for the department.
This position is responsible for overseeing and administering the fiscal responsibilities for University Housing and the subsequent reporting of these activities with supervision of the Director of Business and Finance. This position serves as a departmental administrator by ensuring compliance with university policy and state and federal law.
Responsibilities
- Function as departmental reviewer
- Supervise the daily tasks of the Financial Associates
- Assist in daily financial issues
- Train, troubleshoot and ensure employees are set up in timekeeping system and balance time with the Payroll office
- Partner with on-campus departments and off-campus entities to research, report, and resolve billing
- Evaluate, develop, and implement improvements to the departmental internal business processes, procedures and controls within university policy
- Compare actual operating results to the monthly budget
- Analyze student billing transactions and verify each term billing cycle
- Oversee daily charges and for the public private partnership (P3) residence halls
- Prepare Sales Tax and Unrelated Business Income Tax Returns
- Prepare annual conference profitability report
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree - Business Administration or Accounting or Finance
- Experience:
- 3 yrs experience in fiscal management/accounting working directly with significant budget analysis and budget management.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to multitask; Strong communication skills; Excellent writing, grammar, and proofreading skills; Extensive problem-solving skills; Microsoft 365 proficiency required; Ability to work in team environment; Ability to meet deadlines consistently and accurately; Ability to be flexible.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience:
- 5 yrs experience in fiscal management/accounting working directly with significant budget analysis and budget management; Experience in higher education; Oracle or other higher education financial software system experience
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of university fiscal policies and procedures

Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $46,000 - $54,000
