Building Services Supervisor - Facilities Services - UTK
Job Description
This position is fully trained in all aspects of general cleaning. This position is fully able to do carpet shampooing, hard floor maintenance, recycling, lavatory cleaning, office cleaning, and all routine cleaning procedures. The position is skilled in training new employees, inspecting buildings, and is computer literate. This employee oversees a 24/7 building operation and directs the staff in all Building Service operations of the building. This employee assigns work to foremen and employees, schedules project work, and schedules routine work. This position is the key contact for the building manager and assists in preparing the building for functions, events, and special events.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, assign, and reinspect building conditions, set ups, and quality of work provided
- Assign work to Building Services Foreman and overseeing progress
- Train new employees ensuring that world class service and conditions are provided to customers
- Ensure that equipment is clean and in working order
- Making sure stock levels are adequate for use
- Interacting with customers regarding building needs.
- Maintain communication with the food vendor, ARAmark, as to service needs and service being provided.
- Supervisor duties including: Maintaining daily reports, building inspections, safety inspections, employee evaluations, training, equipment demonstrations, supply ordering, and emergency needs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified Cleaning program Graduate
- Experience:
- Three years of custodial experience
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Skills in Microsoft Office.
- Skills in hard floor care and carpet care.
Other Conditions
- Employee is "Essential" for emergency situations
- Valid Driver's license.
- Applicant must be willing to participate in the FS Facilitating Successful Leaders program; a 6-month probationary period that provides the employee with clearly defined expectations and supervisory feedback that is designed to develop and support successful leaders within Facilities Services.

- Education:
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

UT Facilities Services is responsible for the care and keeping of more than 300 facilities and utilities systems in and around Knoxville. As the University of Tennessee Knoxville’s largest non-academic department, team members are responsible for facilities maintenance and repair, custodial needs, landscaping and lawncare, utility work, in-house and capital construction projects, facilities planning and design, environmental initiatives, pest control, campus event services, and facilities administration functions for both the flagship campus and the agricultural institute. The Facilities Services staff provides around-the-clock coverage to ensure students, staff, faculty, and fans have a consistent and positive experience every time they step foot on Rocky Top.
