The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for Honors Coordinators (Full-time, Exempt) to join our Office of Undergraduate Programs. We are hiring for multiple openings and will review applications on a rolling basis. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs, the Honors Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the student success and co-curricular enrichment of students in honors and signature programs within the Haslam College of Business. The Honors Coordinator collaborates closely with and supports the faculty directors of the college honors and signature programs. The coordinator will manage the operations of the Haslam honors and signature programs experience. The position is responsible for operations, budgets, and projects, planning and executing all aspects of special events, and serves as liaison for the programs with HCB departments and offices.

Required Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, student affairs, business, communications, or a related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of four years of progressively responsible related experience

The Haslam College of Business (HCB) is a destination for future leaders. Our programs equip students with practical knowledge, critical thinking skills, global perspectives and the expertise needed to thrive in the competitive business world. The HCB Undergraduate Programs Office provides comprehensive academic advising services for approximately 9,500 undergraduate students. The college has a collaborative advising team focused on assisting students in developing and implementing sound educational plans consistent with their values and academic and career goals.


PROGRAM COORDINATION & MANAGEMENT

• Provide oversight and management of Haslam's honors and signature programs.

• Execute the management, development, and implementation of the Business honors and signature programs

• Lead, manage, and continually grow the programs which serve up to 10 percent of the college's undergraduate students

• Devise and implement strategies for effective program implementation, operation, and growth

• Provide direction and oversight of the work of support staff responsible for a wide array of administrative duties

• Conduct assessment efforts to continually evaluate success of programmatic and communications initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement

• Create detailed reports for college leadership

STUDENT INTERACTON & CO-CURRICULUAR SUPPORT

• Lead, manage, and execute the co-curricular experience for Haslam honors and signature programs

• Serve as first point of contact for honors-related matters within Haslam for students, faculty, and external stakeholders

• Lead recruitment and admissions processes for college honors programs.

- Coordinate program information sessions

- Represent honors programs at campus-wide admissions events and activities

- Manage the application, review, and selection process for the honors programs

- Collaborate with faculty and admissions staff to evaluate applicants and make recommendations for selection

• Coordinate and facilitate site visits, guest speakers, and other enrichment opportunities for all programs

• Oversee special events and recognitions, including welcome receptions, graduation celebrations, and program banquets

• Facilitate student and program engagement with entities across campus

CURRICULAR SUPPORT & ADVISING

• Develop advanced knowledge and understanding of the business and university honors curriculum, university general education curriculum and business undergraduate curriculum, majors, minors, collaterals/concentrations, and certificates.

• Educate students about curricular requirements, academic standards, and academic milestones related to the business degree

• Manage honors certificate process

• Provide individualized academic advising to a caseload of business honors students and conduct new student advising sessions

• Serve as a primary resource for students regarding honors and academic program policies, procedures, and opportunities

COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING

• Using all available methods, communicates with students, external contributors, and departments across campus to facilitate program success

• Monitor student progress toward honors co-curricular requirements and provide proactive outreach and tracking.

• Collaborate with Office of Marketing & Public Relations to produce effective marketing materials to increase awareness of programs

• Develop social media strategy to promote business honors to a wide community of stakeholders. Administer college honors social media accounts and create consistent traffic and engagement.

• Develop and update honors websites, publications, and collateral materials.

BUDGET & DATA MANAGEMENT

• Responsible for budget development, strategy, and management for the programs

• Plan annual spending, approve expenditures (including international travel), and ensure responsible, effective use of funds

• Manage program-related contracts and ensure compliance

• Monitor student progress toward honors requirements and provide proactive outreach and support

•Track student progress toward honors completion at the end of each term and compile relevant reports
