The Banner Database Administrator independently manages, upgrades and supports Banner applications and enterprise Oracle databases (19c or newer), with a preference for experience in cloud environments such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

This role is responsible for performing routine, complex, and emergency Banner upgrades to ensure optimal performance and data integrity across all environments. The position also serves as a subject matter expert for Banner modules, including General, Financial Aid, Accounts Receivable, and Registration.

This position is a Limited Duration Appointment (LDA). An LDA is a form of regular employment for specific/ special projects and/or circumstances of uncertain or limited duration. An LDA may be established for up to one year with an option to renew the appointment annually for a maximum of three years.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting Student Information Systems and enterprise database environments.

  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Experience administering Student Information Systems (Banner) and Oracle databases (19c or newer), including system upgrades, database performance tuning and monitoring using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), and troubleshooting Banner application, database, and network performance issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science

  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting Ellucian Banner student information systems

  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Oracle Certified Database Administrator or OCI certifications.
    • MSSQL administrator
    • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
    • Experience supporting Ellucian Banner and enterprise data warehouses.
    • Hands-on experience with Linux (RHEL 8/9) and command-line administration
    • Familiarity with Java and Tomcat application environments.

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range: MR14

  • Anticipated hiring range: $95,000 - $105,000

  • Lead and perform Ellucian Banner application and database upgrades and related initiatives.

  • Resolve Banner and data warehouse issues and provide advanced database troubleshooting.

  • Fulfill SIS/Banner service requests related to Oracle database administration.

  • Ensure performance, availability, and reliability of Oracle databases.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of new database environments.

  • Research, evaluate, and provide training on emerging Oracle technologies.

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce technical documentation, standards, configurations, and best practices.

  • Demonstrate expert-level knowledge in database technologies and related systems.

  • Apply strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills to complex technical issues.

  • Communicate effectively with technical and functional stakeholders across the organization.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
