Responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the Team Shop at Neyland & Lindsey Nelson Stadium and licensed merchandise locations at all University of Tennessee athletic events. Coordinates VolShop events staff involvement in major events such as Graduation, marketing activations, and other on- and off-campus functions. Manages staffing, merchandising, POS registers, and inventory control. Provides leadership and training to student supervisors and 50 Student Retailers. Collaborates with buyers and the distribution center to maintain stock levels and pick merchandise for locations. Sets operation hours and frequently work weekends , holidays, and evenings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years’ retail experience
  • 1 year supervisor or manager experience of 25 or more staff at peak times
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in retail environment with events experience
  • 1 year of college retail experience

Administrative:

  • Creates payroll plans based on sales goals and based on schedule for student supervisors and up to 50 students for all Team Shop operating hours and athletic events locations.
  • Schedules and determines hours of other Event locations. Recruits, selects, trains staff to perform day-to-day operations.
  • Responsible for management and training of employees.
  • Delegates tasks and provides direction to students and student supervisors.
  • Manage daily work assignments of student supervisors.
  • Coordinate with VolShop accounting office and University Police to schedule delivery/pickup of funds used for Events.
  • Work with Marketing Manager to fill signage and promotional needs.
  • Work with IT Manager and OIT to support off and on campus locations with register and other technology needs.
  • Act as a point of contact for University of Tennessee Athletic Department facilities staff to ensure all equipment, including trailers and kiosks, are set for events as well as cords, lights, tents, etc.
  • Oversees inventory management. Attend athletic event meetings and coordinate all aspects of event sales setup with University of Tennessee Athletic Department.
  • Works with official clothing vendors during all NCAA Post-Season events including inventory reconciliation, attending UTAD meetings, and scheduling staff to work these events.

Merchandising/Inventory Management:

  • Event manager directs team to visual merchandise Team Shop locations and VolShop Events locations.
  • Responsible for ensuring staff stocks items, prices accordingly, and creating displays to maximize sales and to create a positive shopping experience.
  • Responsible for the care and use of Event vehicles that move stock between locations.
  • Work with vendors and buying staff to maintain merchandise at appropriate levels including re-order needs.
  • May transfer merchandise between other VolShop stores and move merchandise to physical location.
  • Responsible for the security of the sales floor at all event locations to minimize loss of inventory.

Customer Service/Store Operations:

  • Models exceptional customer service for staff and provide constant coaching and support.
  • If needed, run POS, opens and closes event locations, investigates and resolves customer complaints.
  • Ensure customers have a pleasant and enjoyable experience while shopping to create repeat business which includes using best judgment to make exceptions to store policies and return and exchange policies.
