The Retention and Education Coordinator will provide leadership in designing, implementing, and managing programs that enhance student retention and success at the Haslam College of Business. This role is responsible for developing and delivering educational and professional development programs for first-year and second-year students, including workshops on leadership and professionalism, as well as managing peer education and mentoring initiatives. The primary duties of this position are to provide vision, strategy, and leadership in developing educational and retention initiatives to retain and graduate students in the Haslam College of Business. This position is responsible for developing and implementing educational sessions centered on academic and professional development for Haslam College of Business incoming and second year students. This person will also coordinate and develop content to support a specialized cohort in our BUAD professional development series. This position will also develop a peer education and training program for HCB students that serve as advocates for the Office of Access and Community Connections. This position will also have supervisory responsibilities related to managing the production and input provided by a Teaching Associate for the BUAD 103 specialized course for a student development initiative. In addition, this position will work closely with the Office of Undergraduate Programs to source and support the retention of our at-risk students through advising and counseling. They will also work with Retention support offices throughout the university to program access and to support services to aid student retention. In addition, this role will lead and manage retention and education efforts that focus on enhancing students, faculty, and staff leadership and professional development. Initiatives and programs related to lunch and learn sessions, educational summits, and speaker series will be lead in conjunction with support from the Executive Director and Office of access and Community Connections teammates.

Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience: 4 years of professional experience, a demonstrated commitment to experiences related to education, retention, academic support, and student development.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to develop educational and training materials to present workshops for faculty, staff and students.
- Ability to provide strategic planning and leadership for college-wide and departmental programs
- Skills to serve on various department, program, college and university committees that are consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
- Skills to present and communicate the educational and training materials to small and large audiences of faculty, staff and students.
- Knowledge of Best Practices in student retention and education/training.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s Degree
- Experience:
- 2-3 years’ professional experience related to student engagement, event planning, retention, education, professional development training in a higher education setting.
- Progressive experience with education/training, retention, curriculum development and assessment, and working in business schools.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Candidates must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be knowledgeable about UT policy and procedures.
- Other ideal characteristics include the ability to build consensus and relate effectively to a wide variety of people, the ability to work with colleagues to implement a strategic plan based on a shared vision, a collaborative leadership style, excellent organizational and managerial skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, good computer/technology skills, and a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver programs and presentations.

Lead & Oversee Education and Retention for Unit
- Lead educational programming to support the development of students, faculty, and staff within the Haslam College of Business and campus community
- Design, implement, and manage retention programs to enhance the organization's ability to retain students in the Haslam College of Business - Office of Access & Community Connections (Take Off Program, Sophomore Mentoring Program, and Community Advancement Program)
- Collaborate cross functionally within the college and with other campus leaders to ensure efforts are aligned with college strategy, and ultimately, contribute to the continuous improvement of the college's retention and graduation efforts.
- Manage Relationships with others in the HCB and UT who are involved with education and retention programs for undergraduate students.
- This person is responsible for interviewing and hiring students to work with programs such as Community Advancement Program advocates
- This person designs and develops workshops and training sessions around topics for leadership and professionalism. This includes faculty, staff and students.
- This person interviews, hires, evaluates and trains students who help promote and facilitate student sessions.
- Partner with stakeholders, corporate and community partners to provide educational and professional development workshops.
- Regularly monitor the progress of retention programs and adjust strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Serve on HCB and UT campus boards and committees in leadership positions to stay up to date on campus initiatives that align with retention efforts.
- Lead communication efforts to expand office exposure across the college and welcome new first-year and transfer students.
Advising/Counseling/Programming
- Support and lead efforts related to BETS scholarship recipients under the BETS Scholars Program and ensure student engagement and retention remain in correlation with the Haslam College of Business and University of Tennessee-Knoxville performance.
- Leading retention efforts by collaborating with faculty, staff, and university partners to provide targeted support for at-risk students through advising, coaching, and outreach efforts using university databases and programs.
- Overseeing and developing programs such as the Take Off Program and Sophomore Mentoring Program to create a supportive learning environment.
- Partnering with corporate and community stakeholders to offer educational and professional development workshops.
- Managing student recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation for peer educators supporting retention programs.
- Monitoring and assessing retention initiatives, collecting data, and preparing reports to measure program impact and effectiveness.
- Leading communication efforts to promote office initiatives, engage students, and enhance the college’s welcoming environment for first-year and transfer students.
- Serving on college and university boards to stay informed on campus-wide initiatives that support student retention and success.
Manage and Supervise Teaching Associate for BUAD 103
- Create and plan learning and development curriculum for academic year
- Review and maintain cohort retention within the Take Off Program
- Manage and assist with curriculum development
- Lead onboarding process for access to University of Tennessee-Knoxville system and points of access (i.e. DASH, IRIS, Canvas, etc.)
- Coordinate logistics and planning for BUAD 103 course and student engagement
- Evaluate the effectiveness and productivity of Teaching Associate at the conclusion of the course
- Supervise and instruct on workload and levels of compensation
- Review and discuss course content and subject matter prior to sessions; ensuring that content aligns with desired outcomes (i.e., student engagement, professional development, and academic growth)
Directing the Collection, Maintenance, & Reporting of Data/Communication
- Create assessments to Identify trends and develop strategies to improve retention and programming.
- Survey, analyze, interpret feedback information, and prepare and submit reports (e.g., OACC Impact Summary, annual report, student programs) for academic and professional entities (e.g., AACSB).
- Collaborate with other campus leaders on data gathering efforts to develop academic statistics for the college that are accurate, relevant, and measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the programs and services offered;
- Collaborate with Marketing & PR to develop marketing and promotional materials (e.g., brochures, advertisements, email campaigns) that encourage Haslam College of Business students, faculty, and staff to engage OACC services and programs.
