The IT Accessibility Specialist leads UTIA’s digital accessibility efforts by reviewing websites and digital platforms, identifying barriers, and guiding remediation. This role interprets accessibility requirements, advises stakeholders on standards and best practices, and partners with ITS, Marketing & Communications, and content owners to embed accessibility across UTIA. This position reports to the Director of IT Solutions in UTIA's Information Technology Services (ITS) department.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, web design, communications, education, or related field.
  • Experience: Three years of relevant professional experience in digital accessibility, compliance review, web governance, instructional technology, or related areas.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility laws, standards, and regulations, including the ADA and Section 508; skill in evaluating accessibility across websites, documents, and web-based systems; and ability to use tools such as SilkTide, WAVE, or comparable platforms to identify barriers and support remediation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, web design, communications, education, or related field.
  • Five years of relevant professional experience in digital accessibility, compliance review, web governance, instructional technology, or a related area; experience in a policy-driven public sector or higher education environment; experience preparing compliance-related reports; and experience implementing accessibility practices in learning management systems or other enterprise platforms.
  • Advanced skill in accessibility testing methods and tools; working knowledge of coding, content standards, and assistive technologies that support accessible digital experiences; ability to translate technical findings into clear guidance; and ability to develop practical, user-centered accessibility solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range: MR12

  • Anticipated Hiring Range: $65,000 to $75,000

UTIA Information Technology Services delivers strategic technology leadership, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, networking, web and application development, and user support across the Institute of Agriculture’s statewide footprint. The department partners with academic, research, Extension, and administrative units to provide reliable, secure, and accessible technology services that advance UTIA’s mission.


  • Accessibility Compliance & Monitoring (40%) – Lead accessibility compliance efforts across websites, web applications, instructional systems, and other digital platforms; conduct audits, identify barriers, communicate findings, and oversee remediation.

  • Consultation, Training & Support (35%) – Serve as the accessibility subject matter expert for web content, documents, and digital tools; coordinate training; and partner with stakeholders to build accessibility into projects and content workflows.

  • Policy & Procedure Alignment (15%) – Implement and maintain accessibility-related procedures, advise faculty and staff on expectations, and update standards and documentation as requirements evolve.

  • Reporting & Coordination (10%) – Maintain records of reviews and remediation activity, track compliance status, and escalate recurring or unresolved issues through appropriate channels.
