The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to join the Campus Operations Office and provide centralized HR support for a diverse portfolio of operational departments. This position serves as a trusted partner to leadership and departmental teams by coordinating recruitment, onboarding, position management, employee lifecycle transactions, and other human resources processes through a shared-services model.

The Human Resources Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring consistent, timely, and customer-focused HR support while helping departments navigate university policies, improve processes, and maintain compliance.   • Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma and three (3) years of relevant administrative, HR, or business operations experience; OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    • Experience coordinating administrative, HR, and/or business processes.

    • Strong organizational and communication skills.

    • Experience handling confidential information.

  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.

    • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, position management, or employee lifecycle processes.

    • Experience in higher education or a complex organization.

    • Familiarity with enterprise HR systems (DASH, IRIS/SAP, Taleo, or similar).

    • Experience developing reports or workflow documentation.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of HR principles and administrative processes.

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.

    • Ability to interpret policies and procedures.

    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn enterprise systems.

    • Coordinate onboarding activities for new employees.

    • Partner with University Human Resources to facilitate efficient hiring and onboarding.

  • Position Management & HR Administration

    • Coordinate position description development, revisions, and classification requests.

    • Support compensation-related actions, organizational changes, and employee transactions.

    • Maintain accurate HR documentation and personnel actions.

    • Assist departments with HR processes and required documentation.

  • Employee Support & Customer Service

    • Serve as a primary HR resource for Campus Operations leadership and employees.

    • Provide guidance regarding HR processes and university procedures.

    • Build collaborative relationships across departments and with central Human Resources.

    • Maintain confidentiality while delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Reporting & Process Improvement

    • Maintain tracking tools for recruitment, onboarding, and HR transactions.

    • Prepare reports and monitor workflow status.

    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency.

    • Assist with development of standardized procedures and documentation.
