JOB SUMMARY

Maintenance Technician I is responsible for general maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment located within the Courthouse, Annex, Justice Center, Operations Center, Health Department, and various other County facilities. As well as, opening locked facilities and preparing the facilities for normal operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Respond to and resolve various requests for maintenance issues and report the need for further maintenance if needed;

  • Properly use basic tools for cutting, bending, and welding;

  • Perform basic carpentry projects and repairs, including finished interior work;

  • Carryout basic HVAC functions such as inspection of equipment, proper cleaning, speed, temperature, and lubrication;

  • Perform basic locksmith services, including changing of cores;

  • Perform ground maintenance duties, such as mowing or removing snow and ice to ensure a clean and safe environment; and

  • Performs other assigned duties as needed.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

  • High School Diploma;

  • One (1) year of experience;

  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and

  • Valid driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of electricity, carpentry, and plumbing.

  • Ability to evaluate computer related work orders with accuracy.

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and demonstrate efforts to resolve problems.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Excellent mechanical skills.

  • Effective communications and interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach and manipulate objects, tools and/or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. The position requires hearing, mental acuity, speaking, and visual acuity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most work is performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting with centrally controlled heating and air conditioning.
