As a Culinary Assistant at The Italian Apron, your primary responsibility will be to support the Culinary Manager in food preparation and cook line activities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our food consistently aligns with Authentic Italian recipes. Your duties will encompass various routine kitchen tasks to maintain a smooth workflow and uphold quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients, following specific recipes to ensure authenticity and quality of Italian cuisine.
- Workstation Setup: Set up and organize kitchen workstations before and after food preparation to optimize efficiency and cleanliness.
- Ingredient Handling: Properly handle, portion, and store ingredients in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Assistance to Culinary Manager: Support the Culinary Manager in executing daily kitchen operations and cook line activities.
- Quality Control: Assist in monitoring food quality during the preparation process to maintain consistency and adherence to authentic Italian flavors.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Contribute to maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by following proper cleaning and sanitation protocols.
- Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels and notify the Culinary Manager of stock shortages or expiry dates.

- Monday: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Thursday: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must be passionate about culinary arts and Italian cuisine
- Must have Restaurant Experience- [Back of the House]
- Must be self-motivated in daily tasks
- Must have the ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment
- Must have a high standard in food safety and sanitation
- Must have an attention to detail following recipes and food presentation
- Must be able to be on your feet for extended periods of time
- Must have great communication skills
- Must have exceptional time management
- Must provide customer service in a kind, friendly and professional manner
- Must be able to pass a background check

- Manual dexterity to ensure proper operation of kitchen equipment and pasta machines
- Must be able to bend and lift-up to 50 pounds
Preferred Requirements:
- Culinary Arts Degree or Certification
- Culinary Line Cook experience
- Food handlers’ safety certification

- Prepare and package food items
- Assist the Culinary Manager with food inventory and receiving of food deliveries
- Support catering events (weekends as needed)

- Take responsibility for personal development, and within the field of Italian cuisine
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience desired:
- Able to develop and maintain a positive working relationship with all associates
- Able to follow instructions for recipes, food and sanitation safety guidelines
- Keeps a clean and organized work area daily to present a professional appearance
- Complies with our Safety and Security directives, policies and procedures
- Keeps and maintains an appropriate dress attire
- Welcomes guests in a friendly, upbeat and positive manner, and solves minor problems as needed
- Arrive on time for shifts and or travel departure deadlines
- Prepare and package food items (such as fresh pasta) to support retail purchases
- Assist in possible Guest recovery situations as they may occur
- Participate in team meetings
- Demonstrate teamwork using a 3-compartment sink
- Able and willing to be cross trained on other aspects of the operations
- Keep track of ingredient quantities to ensure there is always enough to meet weekly demand
- Flexible to work beyond a time frame to help meet high demand (when applicable)
- Provide notification of any accidents, injury, or other health safety requirements
