Position Summary

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for recording financial transactions, maintaining general ledgers, reconciling accounts, managing accounts payable and receivable, completing bi-monthly payroll, ensuring compliance, and assisting with audits for all entities of Special Opps, Inc including Special Growers, Special Services and The Art Studio at Special Growers.

Work Arrangement and Scheduling

The Bookkeeper will work from a home office. This position offers flexible scheduling and is not designated as a full-time role.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance or closely related discipline
  • Two Years’ experience in bookkeeping and finance roles.
  • Proficiency in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Knowledge of financial concepts, debits, credits
  • Experience with accounting software such as Quickbooks and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to perform account reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation
  • Reconcile sales tax and payroll taxes at the end of each quarter
  • Work with Board Treasurer as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to convey complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders

Responsibilities:

  • Recording Financial Transactions: Keep accurate records of all financial transactions, including donor receipts, grant receipts and general payments. Information will be maintained in accounting software such as Quickbooks, spreadsheets and ledger entries.
  • Maintaining General Ledgers: Update and maintain the general ledger. Monthly report to the Executive Committee.
