HouseSmart Construction Recruiter I

The purpose of the HouseSmart Construction (HSC) Recruiter I position is to assist our construction company in the acquisition of new team members, with much of the recruiting focus being general construction and commercial driver positions. To accomplish this, the HSC Recruiter I is primarily responsible for sourcing and screening candidates and managing the various activities throughout the candidate’s recruiting, onboarding and retention stages.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Partner with leadership to understand open positions and position priorities.

  • Post position openings in various locations (social media, job boards, careers page, etc.) to collect candidates that are both proactively and reactively looking for employment opportunities.

  • Utilize Workday, our Applicant Tracking System (ATS), for all recruiting and onboarding activities, ensuring accuracy and promptness with each step.

  • Review applications and/or resumes for qualification and experience matches to the position.

  • Perform initial phone interview screenings with candidates and make judgments on candidates to progress in the recruiting process with hiring managers.

  • Own the full scope of the interviewing process. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Scheduling interview times with candidates and the interviewers at times that are convenient for all parties.

  • Communicating and confirming interview times leading up the conversation.

  • Providing resumes, contact information, Caliper assessments, etc. to interviewers prior to the scheduled interview.

  • Collecting feedback from the interviewers.

  • Professionally and promptly communicating feedback and next steps to candidates.

  • Coordinate and ensure completion of application documents, driving files, and all licenses or certifications required.

  • Coordinate and ensure completion of background check, references, and drug screen.

  • Communicate effectively with candidates, field managers, and HSC leadership at all stages in the recruiting process.

  • Coordinate and ensure completion of on-boarding steps for new team member.

  • Assist in processing steps for promotions, transfers, pay changes, bonuses, when necessary.

  • Assist with tracking and reporting on various metrics and statistics, upon request.

  • Assist with creating print materials, ordering swag items, and scheduling events to help stimulate recruiting activities, upon request.

  • Attend recruiting events such as job fairs, open interview days, high school, and trade school visits, etc.

  • Other duties as needed and requested by leadership.

Requirements:

  • Experience with recruiting and/or interviewing a plus. Experience in Workday a plus.

  • Passion for working with and supporting people and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Effective computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Outlook, social media platforms, etc.

  • Strong customer relations skills and the ability to manage a wide range of relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Ability to build an organized and effective workday.

  • Ability to make sound judgments with regards to the recruiting process. Adaptable and flexible with job functions and day-to-day activities.

  • Ability to excel and contribute to a team environment. Reliable and dependable.

  • Excellent phone skills and the ability to spend large amounts of time on the phone.

  • Willing and eagerness to learn a general understanding of construction environments to best support our teams.

  • Professional demeanor and appearance.

  • Ability and willingness to travel, as needed (up to 15% of the time). ​
