POSITION SUMMARY:

The Claims Adjuster I position exists to follow proper claim timelines and work effectively with insured customers to resolve property insurance claims.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Records statements of insured claimants and evaluates personal property reports.
• Determines coverage and payment of claims.
• Requests and issues settlement checks.
• Negotiates effectively and fairly with claimants.
• Maintains professional and constant dialogue with claimants.
• Handles some outside claim work when applicable.
• Support related teams during high work volume.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year property and casualty insurance claims experience preferred, but not necessary.
• Must learn all policy coverage’s, insurance terminology and be able to articulate same.
• Must successfully complete and maintain Adjuster Licensing.
• Effectively communicate via phone and computer; position involves extensive phone work.
• Must be efficient at multi-tasking and thinking “on-the-fly.”
• Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness and ability to complete assigned work efficiently.
• Willing to learn, hard-working, determined, and assertive.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
• Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a telephone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Ability to talk and type at the same time.
• 90% communication methods completed over the phone. Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.
• Ability to identify and assess account status and determine appropriate process.
• Constantly works in an indoor temperature controlled, sealed window office environment.
