The Manager in Training (MIT) Program is a multi-phase program that allows MIT Team Members to learn first-hand how to successfully lead within your area of expertise. Working hands-on and partnering with other internal team members, MIT Team Members will be exposed to a multitude of both trained and tribal knowledge.
The objective of the Manager in Training Program is to build future leaders and managers by providing hands-on, real-world training within the Home Building Group. We will accomplish this by ensuring the knowledge and skills it takes to add value within each facet of our facility – production, materials, sales, quality – as well as outside of our facility – Retail Home Center locations, our Home Office, trainings.
Manager in Training career paths include focus areas in Materials Management, Production Management, Sales Management, EHS Management, and Customer Care Management. The MIT Program requires the ability to relocate following the conclusion of the program. MIT’s will work with the MIT Manager and other leadership to determine final placement while in the final phases of the program.
Clayton Home Building Group is currently hiring a Customer Care MIT to join our team!
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Learn from experienced team members in each program area while gaining knowledge about processes, procedures, and standards.
- Participate and work alongside team members to complete tasks.
- Identify opportunities for improvement within rotational areas.
- Successfully complete each phase of the structured training program while rotating through assignments related to the manufacturing and supply processes.
- Collaboratively participate in MIT meetings to develop and refine the curriculum for future team members.
- Actively participate in facility projects to gain deeper knowledge into the business.
- Readily participate in Sponsor led projects to gain broader knowledge.
- Positively contribute to and become a part of the company culture and build relationships with team members and management.
- Present to executive leadership at the end of each phase of the program.
- Present to facility leadership on learning outcomes.
- Provide weekly summary reports.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned.
You Have:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to relocate.
Ideally, You Bring:
- Prior construction experience.
- 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent planning and follow-up skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to work independently or in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to absorb a vast amount of information.
- Project management experience is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
- Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
- Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, and crawl for a prolonged amount of time on a routine basis.
- Must be able to lift in a 2-person lift to 50 lbs.
- Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment. When in facilities, may be exposed to extreme temperatures and other elements typical of a manufacturing environment.
- Work primarily involves sitting / standing.
