Position Summary: The Material Manager is responsible for material / inventory management using Oracle ERP, vendor management, process management, and cost management at their location. This requires working collaboratively with other departments at the facility and at Home Office including Production, Engineering, Customer Care, and Sales as well as working with Suppliers. The Material Manager will be responsible for evaluating inventory/customer trends through Oracle ERP and coordinating any adjustments as needed. The Material Manager is focused on supporting and optimizing operations via integrity, professionalism, production capability, operations support, cost management, contract & process excellence, and continuous improvement.
The Material Manager reports directly to the General Manager of the Supply facility with a dotted line report into the Home Office Materials Department.

Duties / Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, & develop a world class material management discipline to support ERP initiatives
• Lead, manage and reconcile quarterly physical inventories
• Work and communicate collaboratively with other disciplines within the organization
• Facilitate a culture that is focused on team member experience, customer experience, & leadership
• Determine required materials through forecasting to purchase inventory effectively
• Ability to maintain a lean on hand inventory while avoiding material shortages & backorders to customers
• Oversight of inventory control team/program to ensure accurate on hand inventory and effective material rotation (FIFO)
• Operate and order within the supplier contractual terms
• Review vendor back orders and quality performance to work with the vendor on corrective actions
• Comply with all corporate contracts & SOPs
• Implement and abide by corporate policies and procedures
• Performance of category deep dives to improve inventory turns and reduce shortages
• Work with suppliers and other departments to eliminate waste & improve efficiency
• Vendor management and communication
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure:

  • Proper receipt & storage of inventory

  • Proper capture of pricing, terms, & incentives (such as cash discounts & rebates)

  • Timely payment to suppliers

  • Proper rotation of inventory (FIFO)

  • Management and for Damaged, Slow Moving, & Obsolete Material

  • Oversight for efficient raw material and finished good storage locations

  • Data integrity & maintenance (including BOMs and parts)

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain operations, Industrial Engineering, or similar focus
• 3 year’s leadership experience in Materials Management and/or Supply Chain management.
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems, Oracle preferred
• Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
• Experience and commitment to Lean principles, greatly desired
• Strong Microsoft Office product skills
• Contract Management experience
• Vendor Management experience

Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and / or pulling.
• Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
• Work environment is not temperature controlled and may result in exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Work primarily involves sitting / standing, up to 4 hours at a time.
