JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing Compliance Specialist supports advertising compliance and the legal evaluation processes for Retail, VMF, HFA, HBG & Corporate Marketing. This role works with the Marketing Compliance team and in-house legal counsel to ensure that the Company’s marketing, advertising, and sales content protects brand integrity, instills consumer trust, and follows the rules set forth by government agencies and regulatory bodies.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with the Marketing Compliance team and Corporate Legal Counsel regularly to ensure compliance in all advertising campaigns, press releases, sweepstakes, blog articles, paid search ads, social media posts and point of sale materials. Manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
    • Coordinates compliance reviews with Corporate Legal Counsel as needed on new national campaigns and/or campaigns requiring translation.
    • Independently reviews and approves marketing materials using established guardrails & disclaimer templates when appropriate.
    • Conducts initial review for marketing materials with potential risk (e.g., financial disclosures) and submits to Corporate Legal Counsel for review and approval.
  • Serves as liaison between Retail Marketing and Corporate Legal Counsel
    • Handles compliance for all Zone, Regional and Home Center level marketing promotions (point of purchase materials, TV, radio, emails, social media posts, etc.)
    • Approves Home Center orders through High Resolutions using established platform.
    • Audits live radio ads to ensure disclaimers are present & accurate.
  • Regularly monitors changes in laws and best practices in order to mitigate risk.
  • Protects brand reputation and promotes ethical practices.
  • Stays up to date on Industry standards & trends.
  • Performs legal research as directed and stores relevant data as required.
  • Updates Retail Marketing Guidance as needed.
  • Maintains database of Retail marketing materials on SharePoint; produces documents at the request of internal audit, corporate legal & outside regulatory entities.
  • Documents meeting discussions to capture key points, decisions, action items & next steps.
  • Supports the Marketing Compliance team with projects and additional assignments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; degree in business administration, marketing, advertising, journalism, communications, compliance or other related field preferred

Years of Related Experience: Minimum of 0-2 years related experience required; 1-2 years related experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Experience in compliance, audit, law, contracts, marketing communications or corporate communications preferred
  • Experience with contract negotiation, regulatory requirements, and/or legal compliance preferred
  • Experience writing and editing technical documents preferred
  • Self-starter with the ability to pick up new responsibilities quickly
  • Some knowledge of housing and finance laws and regulations (e.g., FTC, CFPB, Safe Act, Dodd Frank) as related to marketing and advertising preferred
  • Strong verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating documents/content with strict attention to detail & accuracy
  • Competent MS Office skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, and prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in autonomous and collaborative environments
