Marketing Automation Supervisor Position Summary:
The Marketing Automation Supervisor is a digital marketing role that specializes in developing and executing cross-channel, customer-first marketing automation strategies for 5-10 business units. This role encompasses ownership of both one-to-one and automated email and SMS customer communications across digital marketing platforms including tools like Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Vantage, MobileConnect, and SMS-Magic to ensure cohesive and effective nurturing programs at all stages of the customer lifecycle. The Marketing Automation Manager oversees the development of their team and architects and implements marketing solutions to optimize performance across all channels. Additionally, the role requires staying up to date on ever-changing legal requirements, industry trends, customer data, and business goals to ensure compliance and alignment with the company’s objectives.
Marketing Automation Supervisor Job Functions:
- Manage the Marketing Automation Team (3) providing guidance, support, and mentorship to enhance their SMS and email marketing skills, tactics, and performance.
- Conduct regular training sessions and one-on-one conversations to keep the team updated on the latest marketing automation techniques, tools, and best practices.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages innovation and continuous learning.
- Understand business goals and customer needs through stakeholder collaboration, research, and trend analysis. Facilitate collaboration and engagement across departments to support seamless implementation of marketing strategies and initiatives.
- Define and adhere to channel and platform requirements to ensure legal compliance.
- Research and understand email and SMS marketing compliance considerations including, but not limited to, CAN-SPAM, CCPA, GDPR, TCPA, and CTIA laws.
- Stay updated on marketing automation tools and capabilities to continuously optimize communication touchpoints across channels. Architect solutions aligned with business objectives and customer-first strategies.
- Maintain knowledge of Salesforce platform contracts and tools and continually refine them to meet evolving needs.
- Create and maintain detailed journey maps identifying customer touchpoints with the business and data triggers across 5-10 business units, multiple platforms, and all direct B2C communication channels.
- Lead the ideation and development of new customer outreach opportunities and pitch strategic opportunities to stakeholders.
- Optimize email and SMS marketing automation strategies and customer communications through performance monitoring, data-driven adaptations, and continual refinement to ensure customer’s needs are met.
- Develop and implement dynamic, personalized email marketing campaigns that support overall business objectives within platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Vantage.
- Assist team members with designing, building, testing, and optimizing email templates and workflows to maximize engagement, retain contacts, and ensure deliverability.
- Present insights and comprehensive strategies to stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment.
- Enhance email marketing experiences by collaborating with business units and refining campaigns based on performance metrics, updates to the sending platform, and evolving regulatory considerations such as CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA.
- Support the implementation of SMS initiatives within platforms such as MobileConnect and SMS-Magic by creating strategic documents and presenting to stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Create and execute SMS marketing campaigns focused on increasing customer engagement. Develop and automate SMS workflows to ensure timely, relevant communications.
- Collaborate with business unit stakeholders to continuously improve SMS marketing efforts through data-driven insights. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as CTIA and TCPA laws while optimizing SMS strategies based on performance data.
- Research and evaluate marketing automation solutions to determine which will best meet enterprise needs.
- Oversee the implementation and management of marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce.
- Collaborate with Tech on platform and data requirements, oversee the implementation process, and measure results.
- This involves outlining data use cases, documenting processes, logging events, and serving as a key collaboration point between developers, stakeholders, and occasionally marketing platform representatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Marketing Automation Supervisor Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field required.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, prior experience leading teams preferred.
- A proven ability to leverage audience insights, digital trends, customer behavior, analytics data, competitive audits, and asset/experience evaluations to inform customer-first communications tactics.
- Ability to take the lead in developing insights-driven pitches, reports, proposals, omnichannel campaign strategies and tactical plans that satisfy business goals and customer needs.
- Experience with enterprise database management platform such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Experience with large databases of 5,000,000+ contacts.
- Ability to analyze Salesforce contracts and understand functionality of included technologies at a high level, ensuring the Digital Marketing team is utilizing all features and paid capabilities to the fullest potential.
- Passion for evolving technologies and innovation, and the drive to create strategies and tactics that engage targeted customers in meaningful ways.
