Position Summary:

The Communications Strategist serves as a creative brand storyteller for the Home Building Group’s (HBG) marketing and communications team by creating and executing brand content for internal and external audiences across multiple communication channels. This role also creates content that promotes company initiatives, culture, and values for more than 14,000 team members, resulting in transparent communications that support world-class team member experiences and align with the company’s vision map.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Research, write and execute a variety of content for internal and external communication platforms
  • Support Home Building Group’s holistic communication strategy and execution of communications, from sourcing, creating, and publishing internal content to amplification of relevant stories for external publication.
  • Publish content on internal channels, including Home Building Group’s team member communication platform, newsletters, and facility communication centers, and amplifies external content on Home Building Group’s external website blog and social media channels such as LinkedIn.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Canva and Microsoft Office products to create and edit content as needed on projects. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred but not required.
  • Work closely with home building facilities, supply facilities, and site-builder teams to source content and support facility intranet usage.
  • Distill complex concepts into simple, coherent communications for different audiences.
  • Apply company brand standards and content style guides in execution of work, using AP style formatting when relevant.
  • Maintain content calendar for multiple content categories.
  • Monitor analytical tactics to improve content reach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; degree in communications, marketing, advertising, or journalism preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience; experience on a corporate marketing team or agency preferred
  • Excellent writing talent, proper grammar, and editing skills required
  • Demonstrated creative writing experience for internal and external communications; proficiency with AP style preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong attention to detail required
  • Must be organized with ability to plan and track project tasks
  • Strong problem-solving ability and idea generation

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing.
