Job Summary

The Sr. Technical Security Analyst is responsible for ensuring the organization's technical infrastructure and systems are secure from potential risks and vulnerabilities. This role involves conducting security assessments, deploying security technologies, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing guidance to staff and end-users on security-related matters. The Sr. Analyst will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, assist in the development of security policies, and ensure compliance with regulations and industry best practices.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Conducts security assessments and vulnerability testing to identify potential risks and weaknesses in the organization's technical infrastructure.
  • Designs and deploys firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and other security technologies to protect the organization's networks and systems.
  • Configures and maintains security software, including encryption, and other security tools, to protect the organization's data and assets.
  • Monitors network traffic and security logs to identify potential security breaches and takes appropriate action to mitigate risks.
  • Investigates security technology incidents and implements measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to other staff and end-users on security-related matters.
  • Assists in facilitating the Configuration Management (CM) Program, ensuring the organization understands how its technology assets are configured and how they relate to one another.
  • Assists in facilitating the Break/Fix Program, tracking issues and status, prioritizing urgent issues, and documenting related processes.
  • Supports management with system administration projects and initiatives from inception to completion.
  • Troubleshoots security applications and server issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Escalates server and application issues to vendors or other support groups when they cannot be addressed internally.
  • Conducts security system and application upgrades and installations.
  • Provides input on the architecture and engineering of new security systems, including evaluating technical designs.
  • Supports the integration of infrastructure with security solutions, ensuring requirements are met.
  • Collaborates with Legal, Compliance teams and Cyber/IT, as needed, and coordinates the technology component of internal and external audits to ensure security programs adhere to relevant laws, regulations, standards, and policies.
  • Works with system administrators and application developers to audit, monitor, and validate their environment's security, including conducting gap analysis and comprehensive internal assessments to improve the security infrastructure and mitigate risks.
  • Assists with investigations of actual or potential security violations and manages the escalation of security events.
  • Evaluates new security threats and technology trends and develop effective security controls.
  • Stays updated on industry and regulatory trends to maintain current knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of networks, operating systems, and security technologies.
  • Proficiency in security tools and software, such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, antivirus software, and encryption technologies.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to convey security information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate security risks and vulnerabilities and develop effective solutions to mitigate them.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting technical issues related to security systems and software.
  • Experience in security assessments, vulnerability testing, and incident response.
  • Good understanding of security regulations and standards.
  • Strong ability to convey security information to non-technical end-users in a manner that inspires adoption and adherence to all security policies and programs.
  • Experience in conducting security system and application upgrades and installations.
  • Knowledge of security architecture and engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure integration with security solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and coordinate audits and assessments.
  • Continuous learning mindset to stay updated on industry and regulatory trends.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in an area of study relevant to this position (i.e., Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems Management, Business Administration, Risk Management, etc.)

Related Work Experience

  • Generally, requires four plus years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification or accreditation that demonstrates expertise and validates technical skills such as: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, etc. is preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime, as necessary.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%.
