Department Overview:

At Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center we understand that patients in our critical care area need specialized care – not only because they are very sick, but because their medical needs are unique.

In our critical care department, we have opened five separate units – each designed to provide experienced nursing and support staff for each patient’s needs.

The Neuro ICU unit at Fort Sanders Regional is a 14 bed unit providing care for patients with neurological symptoms, including coilings, Cerebrovascular Accidents (CVAs, also known as strokes), craniotomies and some spinal surgeries. Fort Sanders Regional is a comprehensive stroke center, meaning we provide full cycle, cutting edge stroke treatment including neurosurgical procedures, and neurointerventional radiology.

As an RN in the neuro ICU unit, you will perform a variety of tasks such as advanced neurological assessments, EVD maintenance, stoke scales, TPA follow up, and surgical recovery. In addition to having excellent critical thinking skills, our ideal candidate will also possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

We encourage our staff members to expand their careers and knowledge by becoming a stroke certified registered nurse. As an organization, we want to grow our employees by promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.

In spring 2021, the critical care department at Fort Sanders Regional will be expanding. The neuro ICU unit will double in size, consisting of 24 total beds. After our expansion, we will be the largest NICU unit with the longest running comprehensive stroke certification in the region.

If you are passionate about putting patients first, and want to work alongside RN experts, apply for our Neuro Critical Care Unit today!

Our goal is to provide excellent patient-centered care so both mom and baby are able to leave the hospital happy and healthy. If you are ready to start the satisfying journey as a Labor & Delivery nurse, then come work with us!
