Overview

Occupational Health Associate, Family Care Specialists

Full time, 80 Hours per period, Day shift

Hours will vary from 7a-4p twice per week to 9a-6p twice per week and a 8a-5p day

Covenant Medical Group is Covenant Health’s employed and managed medical practice organization, with more than 300 top Physicians and providers spanning the continuum of care in 20 cities throughout East Tennessee. Specialties include cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious disease, neurology, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, occupational medicine, orthopedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, pulmonology, reproductive medicine, rheumatology, sleep medicine and urology.

Position Summary:

Provide assistance to HealthWorks staff and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes positive working relationships with all Covenant and non-Covenant Health customers and outside vendors, serving as a positive role model for Covenant Health.
  • Works with community groups, outside industry, outside vendors, and Covenant Health entities in coordinating health promotion activities.
  • Serves as a community, intradepartmental, interdepartmental, and inter-facility resource.
  • Accountable for maintaining medical records/information, and confidentiality of such information for past and present employees, patients, and volunteers of multiple Covenant Health facilities, agencies, private physician offices, outside industry, community groups, etc.
  • Performs urine drug screens and breath alcohol tests per HealthWorks policy and federal law.
  • Responsible for assisting MRO in coordinating and following through with review of drug screen results.
  • Ensures that all assigned patient results are received in a timely manner and are entered into database accurately and disseminated appropriately.
  • Assists with coordination of immunization campaigns on and off site.
  • Ensures that all department logs are kept up to date with accurate information.
  • Answers phone calls, schedules appointments, takes and disseminates phone messages to appropriate staff members in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Screen patients calling and/or presenting to the office for care for appropriateness of visit
  • Documents on the medical record direct patient care results. Performs data entry as assigned.
  • Places patients in exam rooms and retrieves initial basic condition of patients and reports to medical provider.
  • Responsible for assisting medical providers and staff with necessary supplies/equipment.
  • Responsible for ensuring stock levels in exam rooms is maintained.
  • Responsible for wiping down surface area in exam room with germicidal spray on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for maintenance and calibration of equipment (only equipment certified and trained).
  • Assists with daily filing.
  • Responsible for invoicing, billing, charge entry, posting and collection of payments.
  • Meets annual training requirements per HealthWorks and Covenant guidelines.
  • Responsible for performance and quality improvement activities; works as a team member; attends meetings and participates on committees as needed and requested.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an office, ER or Employee/Occupational Health. Must possess knowledge of general office etiquette and skills, and must demonstrate capability in use of computer. Billing, accounts payable experience preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

CPR is required. BAT and UDS certification preferred; Certification within 12 months of hire is required.
