Overview

Registered Nurse, Laser Center - GI Center of Excellence

Part Time, 48 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

8:30am-4:30 pm, Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays only.

Founded in 1988, our Center of Excellence for Barrett's Esophagus is an alliance of medical professionals, research organizations, and supporting services that perform extensive research and provide comprehensive and well-coordinated care for our patients.

Over the years, we have led and participated in numerous clinical studies, including photodynamic therapy (PDT), which was pioneered in our facility in 1990.

We currently provide an array of endoscopic treatment options for Barrett's patients, including, radiofrequency ablation, endoscopic mucosal resection, argon plasma coagulation, cryotherapy, and bipolar electrocoagulation.

We are nationally recognized for our state-of-the-art treatment options, excellent treatment outcomes, and peer-reviewed publications, and we have patients travel to receive treatment here from all over the country.

Position Summary: Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care.
  • Assesses learning needs of patient and family.
  • Develops and initiates plan of care, involving patient and family.
  • Recommends interventions.
  • Evaluates plan of care.
  • Resolves problems regarding moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision.
  • Demonstrates willingness to precept employees/students as directed. Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

Must possess at least one (1) year of professional nursing experience. GI experience preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN licensure. CPR required.
