Position Summary:
The Supervisor, Proton Therapy oversees the radiation therapy operations of the Thompson Proton Center. The Supervisor, Proton Therapy administers therapeutic radiation to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Controls daily flow of operations with emphasis on clinical performance issues. Primary responsibilities involve managing therapy budget, patient treatment, staff supervision, maintaining communication flow and continuity between the clinic, office, nursing, physics, and management, and therapist performance evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Performs therapeutic treatments and simulations for all age groups as required.
- Schedules and monitors employee work assignments including staff therapists and CT/SIM.
- Performs evaluations of staff and recommends and implements educational/disciplinary/promotional actions when necessary. Maintains professional demeanor when resolving staff issues and resolutions with intra and interdepartmental conflict.
- Performs appropriate chart record keeping and data entry especially in monitoring record and verify e-chart parameters.
- Evaluates, trains, and measures clinical performance standards for the affiliated radiation therapy students within the Thompson Proton Therapy Center.
- Responsible for on-site supervision to improve communication and continuity between the treatment areas, front office, nursing, physician, physics, and management.
- Provides staff supervision in the daily flow of operations.
- Monitors clinical performance to ensure excellent patient care and correct treatment deliveries.
- Oversees the patient treatment schedule for efficiency and correct appointment/treatment times.
- Adjusts schedule as needed to remain on time for patient appointments.
- Manages Kronos timecard schedules, edits, and comments.
- Coordinates CTO/vacation policy for team members.
- Generates monthly reports for productivity and Clinical Quality Indicators.
- Responsible for ordering supplies.
- Maintains awareness of and adherence to facility-wide policies and updates.
- Participates in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive quality assurance and performance improvement plan. Assists the Clinical Services Director to monitor and update appropriately.
- Assists in maintaining compliance documentation required for facility accreditation.
- Facilitates interviewing, training, orientation, and assignment of proton therapy team members.
- Develops team members to take on additional responsibilities, promotes cross-training as appropriate.
- Supports team members in their understanding, acceptance, and commitment to the organizational mission, goals, and objectives.
- Assists Clinical Services Director to assure ongoing fiscal compliance related to patient revenue cycle.
- Works with Clinical Services Director to assure departmental compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Participates in professional development opportunities.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
At least five (5) years of professional experience and four (4) years of experience as a Radiation Therapist, with at least two (2) years in Proton Therapy.
Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain ARRT (T).
