Emergency Medical Services Overview:

Covenant Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ensures rapid response with specially trained personnel and a fleet of vehicles that are equipped with cutting-edge technology. The Covenant Health EMS team improves patient care and outcomes, supports post-discharge planning, and enhances community engagement. Working closely with all Covenant medical centers as well as several non-Covenant facilities, our EMS team ensures that advanced-level transport options are available when needed.

Position Summary:

The Mgr EMS is responsible for all aspects of the Emergency Medical Services at Claiborne Medical Center. The Manager of the Claiborne Ambulance Service receives supervision and direction from the Chief Administrator Officer of the Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the State of Tennessee’s rules and regulations for EMS operation.
  • Maintain an ACLS service of the EMS through the State of Tennessee.
  • Demonstrates and has adequate knowledge of departmental and hospital procedures and implements necessary revisions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge to follow basic life support protocol.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge of the physical and psychosocial development of age groups, including infant, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
  • Regularly revises department procedures and implements revisions to other employees as appropriate.
  • Maintains supplies; orders as necessary.
  • Addresses and receives employees, visitors, and co-workers in a pleasant and respectful manner; displays courtesy at all times; responds promptly to requests of any personnel.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive material and information.
  • Establishes good rapport and cooperative relationships with all personnel of the hospital and nursing home.
  • Consistently coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Demonstrates a complete understanding of hospital and nursing home fire and safety procedures.
  • Checks and supervises credits and billing of patient accounts.
  • Maintains records of employees working hours and payroll for the time limited to each employee.
  • Coordinates training for all ambulance employees.
  • Transports financial reports to the County Executive office each month.
  • Maintains a daily log of patient transports.
  • Complete monthly billing of all fuel records and other monthly reports such as County and State run forms.
  • Completes performance evaluation for his or her department in a timely manner.
  • Supports Covenant users of the Learning Management System by being point of contact for entire system, creating job aides, and assigning mandatory classes within the LMS.
  • Utilizing the Learning Management Systems, creates, enrolls, and completes learners for all classes held at Learning & Organization Development.
  • Coordinates participation in internal and external training programs by organization employees.
  • Works with other LOD team members to design, deliver, coordinate, and implement large scale, system-wide training.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

Experience in the EMS field is a plus.

Licensure Requirement:

Licensed as a Paramedic in the State of Tennessee. Certification meeting all requirements of the State of TN is required. Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
