Overview

Non-Certified Cancer Registrar, East Tennessee Cancer Registry

Full time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position is home based but in person meetings are sometimes required.

Position Summary:

Processes, maintains, compiles, and reports health information data for research, quality assessment, facility planning, marketing, abstracts and codes clinical data using appropriate classification systems, obtains long-term follow-up data for all Commission on Cancer Approved Programs and analyzes health records according to published governmental or institutional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, calculate analyze, interpret and present data related to cancer.
  • Analyze health records according to standards.
  • Review and evaluate quality assessment issues.
  • Apply techniques for acquiring, filing, and maintaining cancer-related registry information.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Other related duties as assigned by manager.
  • Travel as necessary to other contracting facilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

Minimum Experience:

Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Good Computer Skills, Good Communication Skills

Licensure Requirement:

Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
