BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Works independently leading and coordinating complex projects. Is the point of escalation and subject matter expert for networking issues. Designs, manages, implements, tests, documents, and supports enterprise networking systems including hardware for Local and Wide Area networks, wireless LAN, remote access systems including firewalls, intrusion prevention, vulnerability scanners, and other network diagnostic tools.

Minimum Education: Associates degree in computer science, networking, or related field.

Degree: Computer science, networking, or related field

License/Certification Required: None

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Six years’ experience in Information Technology, networking, or related field.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors network traffic usage and performance, proactively diagnosing and resolving problems related to enterprise network operation, network security, and remote access.
  • Ensures enterprise network systems meet uptime requirements by reporting and identifying service interruptions through established measurement procedures for scheduled maintenance windows and unscheduled service events.
  • Implements scheduled test procedures to verify functionality in accordance with industry best practices compliance standards.
  • Performs diagnostics, develops maintenance resolution documentation, and communicates to management the overall status of the network on a timely basis.
  • Prepares change management documentation and provides planning in compliance with the IT Change Management Policy.
  • Develops and maintains extensive documentation for all managed systems including databases, diagrams, reports, and other related documents.
  • Participates in new product and technology demonstrations and evaluations.
  • Participates in Information Security discussions, reporting and recommendations.
  • Participates in and contributes to all disaster recovery projects and exercises.
  • Develops maintenance plans and ensures that systems receive updates and remain effective by identifying, planning for, and acquiring tools, methodology and procedures for upgrades or replacement of network components through annual budget processes.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-confident, motivated, and disciplined in the delivery of projects and tasks.
  • Part of on-call schedule and share coverage with the rest of the team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following skills and experience are not required but represent a strong advantage for candidates and reflect the technologies actively in use within the environment:

  • 802.11 Wireless Standards: Working knowledge of 802.11 wireless standards (a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and wireless site survey principles, including channel planning and RF coverage design.
  • Aruba Wireless Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Aruba Wireless Controllers and Access Points, including configuration, deployment, and management via Aruba Central or ArubaOS.
  • Extreme Networks Switching: Experience with Extreme Networks switching platforms and associated management tools, including ExtremeCloud IQ (XIQ) and Extreme Networks Site Engine (formerly NetSight / Fabric Manager).
  • Dark Fiber Circuits: Familiarity with dark fiber circuit management, including coordination with carriers for provisioning, troubleshooting, and failover planning.
  • VoIP Systems: Experience with enterprise VoIP platforms and telephony system administration, including troubleshooting call quality, dial plan configuration, and integration with clinical communication systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Light lifting, pushing, and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending, and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
