BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Maintains, delivers, picks-up home medical equipment and supplies. Responsible for patient/parent education of selected Home Medical Equipment.

REPORTS TO

  • Clinical Coordinator—Home Health

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Supervisory Responsibilities: NO

Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED required

License/Certification Required: Must have a valid Tennessee Drivers license with class F endorsement.

Minimum Work Experience: 1 year hospital or home health experience preferred. Delivery experience preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to work effectively with multiple disciplines in a collaborative manner.
  • Knowledge of computer skills.
  • Possesses good written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and maintains Home Medical Equipment patient records correctly. Complies charging information (delivery tickets) for Home Medical Equipment and supplies and confirms appropriately.
  • Delivers and picks up medical equipment, supplies and pharmaceuticals utilizing appropriate storage techniques and in a timely manner. Performs minor repairs of Home Medical Equipment correctly. Advises appropriate manger if equipment needs further repairs or replacement.
  • Maintains accurate and updated records: Ensures P-M and equipment location records are correct. Ensures vehicle P-M maintenance records are correct
  • Coordinates scheduled maintenance and needed repairs with BioMed and other disciplines as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate records of Home Medical Equipment in EMR. Ensures accurate documentation of supply delivery, pick-up, cleaning, minor repair, and storage and stock levels. Performs patient set-up and maintenance of nebulizers, monitor-downloads and other equipment correctly.
  • Participates in on-call rotation going out at night, on holidays and the weekends to change out defective equipment or deliver needed supplies, pharmaceuticals, formula, etc.
  • Effectively communicates and interacts with all patients, staff, in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner, as observed by management observation and peer input. Maintains professional composure and confidence during stressful situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times as observed by management and peers
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Fosters mature professional relationships with fellow employees in a courteous, friendly, manner as measured by management observation and peer input.
  • Willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.
  • Correctly cleans, stores, and maintains appropriate stock levels of Home Medical Equipment and other supplies.
  • Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably.
  • Reviews consents with the caregivers for equipment and supplies and obtains signatures for payment on paperwork.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
