BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Food Service worker with increased self-directed skills in the areas of: catering, storeroom, stocking patient units, formula preparation, food production and clerical tasks.

REPORTS TO

  • Food Service Supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Supervisory Responsibilities: NO

Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED

Degree: General

License/Certification Required: None

Minimum Work Experience: Food Services or related experience preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Good communication skills, ability to read and write, attention to detail, fiscal responsibility, good follow-through skills, customer service focused, basic math skills required, computer skills preferred.
  • Individuals hired for the Storeroom Clerk position will have a physical requirement of “C”; all other positions will have a requirement of “B”.
  • Must be willing to shave beard or wear beard guard.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works quickly, efficiently and accurately to complete trayline, deliveries, files/reports, orders for paper goods and formulas.
  • Works in a timely manner.
  • Stores and handles food and dishes in a safe and sanitary manner in accordance with health regulations.
  • Prepares assigned food items correctly.
  • Follows directions, recipes, and HACCP guidelines .
  • Rotates stock on a daily basis, according to departmental procedures.
  • Plans and anticipates work, looking ahead to see that items are available for the next day and prepares as necessary.
  • Keeps work area and equipment clean, following all departmental and equipment guidelines and using correct procedures.
  • Communicates essential information to others (telephone messages) in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and the spirit of cooperation at all times. Volunteers to assist others.
  • Willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.
  • Maintains accurate and timely inventory within assigned responsibility.
  • Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably. Manages time efficiently and is always contributing while on the job.

  • Heavy lifting, pushing and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, and stnding are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
