BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Corporate Compliance Officer oversees the ETCH Corporate Compliance Program, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews, promotes and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within ETCH. The position ensures that ETCH achieves consistently high levels of compliance with all laws and regulations while supporting the growth of ETCH. Also, the position ensures that ETCH's policies and procedures are being followed and that behavior in the organization meets ETCH's Code of Conduct and Ethics.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Minimum Education: Bachelors degree required. Advanced degree or certification preferred

Degree: Bachelors degree.

License/Certification Required: Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) preferred

Minimum Work Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in health care setting with responsibilities related to regulatory issues. Direct corporate compliance experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated history of effective problem-solving, leading, collaborating, and communicating.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads ETCH's Corporate Compliance Program and Committee; provides oversight and guidance for the Board of Directors, President, General Counsel, and senior management on matters relating to compliance and monitors the day-to-day compliance activities of ETCH.
  • Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies, procedures and practices for the general operation of ETCH and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Develops and periodically reviews and updates the ETCH Code of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees.
  • Collaborates with other ETCH departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution. Consults with Legal Services as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues.
  • Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct & Ethics by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations.
  • Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within ETCH are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for the resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance to ETCH on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
  • Establishes and provides direction and management of ETCH compliance hotline and other reporting channels. Monitors a log/tracking systems for all Confidential Disclosures through the hotline.
  • Institutes and maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting (a) use of the compliance hotline, (b) heightened awareness of ETCH codes of conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures.
  • Works with ETCH Human Resources/ODL and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers, and monitors the performance of the Compliance Program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve it effectiveness.
  • Prepares periodic reports to the Board of Directors and the CEO detailing compliance initiatives throughout the year as well as recommending improvements/changes in the overall compliance program.
  • Performs such other appropriate functions as may be assigned from time to time by (a) the Board of Directors and/or appropriate Board committees, and (b) executive leadership.

  • Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably and willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 1-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending, and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
