BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Advances the mission of the hospital by increasing the level of involvement and philanthropic commitments of donors in the hospital's service area. Responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive, strategic, integrated effort to build the base of individual donors and increase the level of support through annual giving and event sponsorships at Children's Hospital.

License/Certification Required: NO

Minimum Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience preferably in a healthcare setting. Successful track record in the cultivation, solicitation, stewardship of unrestricted gifts and event sponsorships preferred. Volunteer management experience a plus. Knowledge of community a plus.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Practical knowledge of annual giving operations and an understanding of what it takes to expand donor participation.
  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge and other Blackbaud programs, Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Ability to clearly articulate the mission of ETCH, strong supervisory, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
  • Must possess demonstrated integrity, positive attitude, diplomacy, tact, courtesy, and a sense of humor.
  • Work effectively with the Director of Development to steward and engage a portfolio of annual mid-level donors.
  • Work closely with the Development staff to strategize stewardship models for all levels of donors.
  • Work closely with the Development staff to research and identifiy potential prospects and funnel them to the appropriate giving channels.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Children's Hospital in general and its funding priorities, as indicated by articulating a compelling case for support to all constituents and the results it produces.
  • Develops a written effective master plan and calendar for all phases of annual giving and event sponsorships and adjusts as appropriate. The plan will include established goals and tactics for growing and administering the annual giving program and securing sponsorships for ETCH events.
  • Prepares creative and effective written communications including letters, brochures and other materials for annual giving programs and event sponsorships.
  • Identifies and aggressively seeks new prospects to support events. Prepares and submits a thorough and timely quarterly report detailing progress as they relate to program goals and objectives and adjusts performance as the report indicates.
  • Proactively researches and implements annual fund best practices in the annual giving strategies and focuses on increasing funding.
  • Works closely with the events team in the Development office to create sponsorship levels in order to obtain the greatest corporate and individual support for ETCH events.
  • Willingly assists with functions such as meetings, volunteer activities, solicitation of event sponsorships and working at Children's Hospital events.
  • Initiates supporting other projects and team members as needed, willingly accepts other assignments as necessary to meet the goals of the department. Demonstrates sensitivity and ability to work with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Ability to maintain high energy and positive demeanor by demonstrating strong behaviors of self motivation and personal accountability.
  • Has the ability to lead others even though may not be the official leader, but rather the leader over the project results. This will be reflected in others willingness to follow this position's direction.
  • Represents Children's Hospital to the community in an ethical and professional manner by involvement in appropriate groups, community leaders and other opportunities for connection.
  • Demonstrated public speaking abilities that motivate, inspire and influences individuals and organizations see the value of supporting the mission of Children's Hospital.
  • Tracks timely and accurate information in the Blackbaud system about prospects including call reports, gift acknowledgements and other data that is important for the maintenance of donor/prospect records.
  • Works closely with Marketing to develop direct mail collaterals. Collaboratively works with Marketing, Director of Development, and Operations Coordinator on an annual giving campaign.
  • Works closely with the Development and Opterations Coordinator to monitor and track annual giving campaigns accurately and timely.
  • This position is expected to utilize their time wisely, conduct face to face donor visits, maintain useful donor records in the Blackbaud system.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of both long term and short term annual giving programs and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Uses the Raiser's Edge system to the fullest potential for reporting of donor visits and fundraising efforts. Initiates data mining to support the goals and results they are responsible for.
  • Stays vigilant on identifying and soliciting new prospects, new concepts, new markets while maintaining and nurturing existing relationships.
  • Responsible for raising a portion of the department's annual fund raising goal. The range will be determined annually.

  • Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
