BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This position assists and performs specified nursing care under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner. Care is provided exclusively to adult patients, as all patients are employees of ETCH. All functions performed are within the limits of the Tennessee Nurse Practice Act and nursing policies and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Supervisory Responsibilities: NO

Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED required. Associate's Degree preferred.

License/Certification Required: CMA/RMA certified and 1 yr experience preferred. Licensed Practice Nurse in State of Tennessee preferred.

Minimum Work Experience: 1 yr experience preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Skills as outlined in the MA/LPN orientation checklist
  • Effective communication and administrative skills
  • Confident in phlebotomy skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts a thorough health assessment of patients and records information accurately. Reports unusual data to provider in a timely manner.
  • Assesses and identifies patient symptoms and problems. Reports unusual data to provider in a timely manner.
  • Administers medications using various methods within scope of practice (i.e., orally, IM, etc.)
  • Obtains and handles specimens according to policy. Adheres to infection prevention guidelines and appropriate use of PPE.
  • Assists provider in performing appropriate therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.
  • Delivers patient care while ensuring meeting quality management goals.
  • Acquires and maintains clinical competencies as demonstrated through return demonstration or successfully completing computer based learning modules.
  • Documents completed in compliance with all departmental guidelines, promptly, thoroughly and accurately.
  • Interacts with patients in a caring and professional manner.
  • Effectively and professionally interacts and collaborates with other providers of patient care.
  • Explains procedures and medications in a manner that the patient understands.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Assists with maintaining a safe, clean and orderly clinical and patient care area environment.
  • Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably: Consistently optimizes time efficiently and effectively, and serves as a role model/resource for others. Respectfully uses hospital resources appropriately, avoiding miss-use, abuse or waste as specific to Lean Principles.
  • Orders and stocks supplies and medication in a proactive basis and/or as directed to help team members provide efficient patient care.
  • Conducts monthly Quality Checks (QC) of equipment and testing.
  • Perform qualitative N-95 fit tests on employees.
  • Continuous management and communication of employee health requirements and records.
  • Ability to multitask with strong organization skills.
  • Perform new hire physicals.
  • Willingly assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
