Job Profile Summary
Provides support under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. This role demonstrates growing competence across pharmacy technician tasks and begins closely supervised pharmacist learning tasks. This includes Intern I functions as well as sterile compounding, medication reconciliation, medication counseling, support MTM activities, clinical documentation, if applicable. Higher tiers (Intern III) perform advanced counseling, patient and staff education, sterile hazardous compounding, workflow optimization, assist in therapeutic monitoring, immunizations, project work such as medication use evaluations, and supports onboarding of new interns.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Currently enrolled into an accredited college or school of pharmacy
License / Certification Required: proof of enrollment into accredited college or school of pharmacy
Minimum Work Experience: Minimum 1 year of pharmacy experience; health system pharmacy experience preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Intermediate computer and pharmacy technology skills
- Intermediate math skills
Duties and Responsibilities
All duties performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist who is beyond their probationary period:
- Performs all intern I duties and the following advanced tasks if applicable:
- Prepares/selects age-appropriate medication for sterile compounding in compliance with USP <797>.
- Performs advanced automation or technology functions, including but not limited to carousel management, ADC database maintenance, troubleshooting barcode/labeling issues.
- Provides advanced discrepancy resolution & billing adjustments.
- Trains and mentors pharmacy technicians and interns; may serve as a preceptor for orientation checkoffs.
- Assists in quality improvement initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support safe and efficient pharmacy operations.

Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
