Job Description
The Strategic Execution Senior Consultant plays a pivotal role in driving strategic transformation across the Merchant Payment Services domain. This position partners with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
This leader will own the execution of complex change initiatives, including decommissioning legacy systems, implementing DIY customer solutions, and transforming manual processes into automated workflows. They will be responsible for stakeholder engagement, governance, and executive-level storytelling to ensure alignment and adoption across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic execution of cross-functional transformation initiatives within Merchant Payment Services.
- Serve as a Program and Project Manager, leading initiatives from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Partner with business leaders, technology teams, and operations to define scope, design solutions, and drive implementation.
- Own change failures and conduct root cause analysis to develop short- and long-term remediation strategies.
- Develop and deliver executive-level presentations that clearly communicate project impact, risk, and strategic alignment.
- Translate complex initiatives into actionable insights for both leadership and front-line teams.
- Foster a solution-oriented mindset across the team, inspiring innovation and resilience.
- Ensure governance and documentation around manual processes and future automation plans.
- Represent the voice of stakeholders by understanding their personas and tailoring communications accordingly.
- Participate in architecture and design calls to ensure use cases are accurately represented and implemented.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Six or more years of related experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Executive presence with strong storytelling and influence capabilities.
- Strategic thinker with a long-term, solution-oriented mindset.
- Proven ability to pivot and lead through ambiguity.
- Strong analytical, time management, and leadership skills.
- Experience with both Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies, with the ability to flex between approaches based on project needs.
- Comfortable owning and documenting change failures and driving resolution.
- High emotional intelligence and ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
- Experience in banking, payments, or internal U.S. Bank operations is a plus.
Location Expectations
This role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, with an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and flexibility to work remotely on other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00
