About the Role: This student will assist with preparing detailed engineering designs for distribution, transmission and/or fiber communication systems using computer aided design and system modeling tools. Help oversee projects through the construction and closeout process while maintaining all project documentation. Collaborate with Engineers to provide support of power quality studies. Develop and use KUB design, material and equipment specifications, and assist with long range capital improvement project planning and budgeting. Student will be exposed to multiple industry software programs such as PLS-CADD, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Cyme, ProVision, and others. Daily work activities will include a mixture of office and fieldwork.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Physical demands for a specific position within this classification may vary and / or exceed those demands described above.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain full-time student status at an accredited college or university pursuing an Associates, Bachelor’s, or graduate-level degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline

  • Have and maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 am – 5:00 pm

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Must possess basic computer skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Completion of some sophomore and/or junior-level Electrical Engineering course work

  • Experience with Microstation, AutoCAD or other related applications

  • Has an interest in the electrical power systems field
