About the Role: Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment in buildings, grounds, and utility systems of KUB’s water and wastewater equipment, including pump stations, tanks, and treatment plants. This position has duties that may include: plumbing, welding and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment such as blowers, compressors, valves, motors, pneumatic tools, chemical feeders, chlorinators, control units, pumps, water tanks and other production equipment. This role requires the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications. Repairs and troubleshoots equipment; observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble; dismantles devices to gain access to repair or replaces defective parts; repairs electrical equipment; welds and uses cutting torches. Conducts performance tests of plant equipment using tachometers, pressure gauges, flow meter, amp, and volt meters. Operates a variety of heavy equipment including boom trucks, service truck cranes, basic operation of backhoes, Skid Steer, overhead cranes, forklifts.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and work in small spaces with minimal headroom. Work on structures up to 200 feet tall is required. The ability to climb steps and work from ladders is required. Works primarily outside, from a KUB vehicle, in customer facilities, and in a variety of weather conditions. May be required to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and work extended hours during storm or emergency situations. Physical demands for a specific position within this classification may vary and / or exceed those demands described above.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the field of mechanical preventative and corrective maintenance
Possesses high degree of mechanical, basic electrical, and problem-solving aptitude as well as ability to read and utilize schematics, diagrams, and operations/maintenance manuals
Willingness to work around potable water, hazardous chemicals, and wastewater.
Must have working knowledge of equipment, tools, and instruments used to perform assigned tasks and other duties as well as PC skills (developing or working in documents in Word or Excel Programs (Microsoft Office Products), working in KUB’s Maximo asset management system for work order management, and navigating electronic files for procedures
Valid Driver's License with ability to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License
Ability to obtain and maintain Tier I Qualifications under KUB's Low Voltage Electrical Safety Program within the first year of employment.
Preferred Requirements:
Two (2) years of specialized industrial training in utility facility operations and repairs with experience in installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities.
Strong background in the maintenance of equipment found in the treatment plants or industrial environments (i.e., pumps, motors, valves, fans, gearboxes, etc.) and ability to be quickly familiarized with performing preventive maintenance tasks required to keep equipment running with minimal breakdowns.
