Description

Summary

The Electrical Systems Engineer will manage the research, design, development, and testing of electrical and mechanical systems used on Malibu and Axis boats. Must be proficient in DC systems, Electrical schematics, utilizing a variety of equipment for accessing, troubleshooting, CAN bus devices, and repairing electrical systems. The qualified candidate will be responsible for new product innovation of electrical systems that include, but are not limited to innovative designs, operating systems, and power distribution systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage new product design and continuous improvement of in-boat electrical systems and operating systems.
  • Confer with management, production, sales, and purchasing to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Develop and maintain technical drawings and specifications.
  • Assume the lead engineering role on multiple assigned projects including operating systems, switches, sensors, and other powered systems.
  • Responsible for the preparation and daily management of estimates, cost reports, and project schedules for multiple projects and suppliers
  • Regularly identify opportunities for product improvements and re-engineer designs to enhance the form, fit, and function of current and new designs.
  • Establish validation standards, develop testing protocols, and document test results for electrical and supporting mechanical systems. Direct and coordinate supplier compliance with specifications.
  • Use engineering and computer design software, specifically AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Ensure proper cross-departmental coordination and effective communication of all assigned projects.
  • Develop and direct test scopes involving multiple supplier interactions and facilitate integrated test plans for in-boat field testing.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or BS in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in electronics, and 6+ years of experience with advance knowledge in electrical engineering systems;

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers. English required.

Other Qualifications:

Experience in AutoCAD required; Experiences in 3D solid modeling or Solidworks preferred; Experience in developing wiring harness schematics; Experience with CAN Bus Systems; Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite; Knowledgeable in NMMA, SAE, NMEA, and IEEE standards; boating experience preferred.
