Description

Summary

A Sr. Application Developer is part of a team that develops, enhances, and maintains all internally constructed applications. The speed and efficiency in our boat plants rely on the performance and stability of these applications as does our lead generation, sales, and marketing efforts. MBI is currently in the process of developing cross brand utilities which will continue to drive a significant portion of the work in the App Dev function for the next 3+ years. We are also enhancing our digital Build A Boat offering across multiple our brands to allow more configuration and visual interaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead, advise and collaborate with a team of internal application developers
  • Manage contract/external developer teams and development engagements
  • Work closely with business and IT leadership to identify, prioritize, and deploy solutions
  • Set expectations and communicate timelines to various stakeholder and leadership groups
  • Construct and refine metrics to monitor development efforts and maturity
  • Mentor application development team and provide career growth opportunities

Innovation

  • Monitor emerging technologies and methodologies for possible use at MBI
  • Chart a course to continuously improve the maturity of the application development function at Malibu and provide metrics to show growth and areas for improvement

Qualifications

Critical Qualifications

  • Experience as a technical lead for a team of developers (internal and/or external)
  • Exceptional communication skills – both oral and written English
  • Significant Experience with several of the technologies listed in the section above.
  • Experience developing enterprise externally facing applications (1000+ users)
  • Experience as team lead or senior on full stack development team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including demonstrated abilities to collaborate with technical and professional staff and lead cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with contract resources
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to communicate and manage shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CI/CD
  • SCRUM, sprint grooming and planning
  • Configuring cloud infrastructure
  • Performance testing and load testing
  • Experience upgrading legacy applications to modern technologies
  • Preference for experience in manufacturing or similar industry
  • Familiarity with development requirements for publicly traded companies, including SOC2, ADA, ISO, PCI

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in application development
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
