Description

Summary.

The Engineering CAD Technician is responsible for redrawing, maintaining, revising, and updating production and prototype harness CAD drawings. Additionally, the role involves managing associated Excel databases, to support Malibu Electronics' engineering and manufacturing operations. This role involves converting existing designs into various formats while ensuring precision and consistency across all technical documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Prioritize safety in all activities, ensuring it is consistently demonstrated across the team.
  • Take primary responsibility for redrawing and preparing CAD models, to-from databases, and label databases for new and updated wiring harness assemblies. This includes working closely with Product Development teams across Malibu brands (Malibu, Axis, Monsoon Engines, Malibu Trailers, Cobalt Boats, Maverick Boats, and Pursuit Boats) to ensure all models and documentation are accurate and align with engineering specifications and requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Development teams across Malibu brands (Malibu, Axis, Monsoon Engines, Malibu Trailers, Cobalt Boats, Maverick Boats, and Pursuit Boats) to redraw and prepare CAD models for new and updated wiring harness assemblies, following engineering specifications and information provided by Malibu’s engineering teams.
  • Gain hands-on knowledge through on-site training on how to assemble prototype or sample harnesses using standard or alternative wire processing methods, including automated and manual wire cutting, crimping, splicing, etc.
  • Address service requests to improve or modify harness components, wires, label files, and other engineering elements for development and daily operations.
  • Analyze information provided by teammates or customers, identifying solutions to technical challenges.
  • Identify areas for improvement through regular audits and reviews, recommending and implementing solutions to address defects or inefficiencies.
  • Stay current with all necessary training, qualifications, and updates to effectively perform in the role.
  • Collaborate daily with production teams to ensure CAD-related needs are met and maintained.
  • Perform self-checks to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with standards, including fits and stack-ups.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, with a minimum of three years of experience in preparing CAD drawings in a professional environment.
  • Experience in Solidworks and AutoCAD required
  • Knowledge of basic computer software (Office 365, MS Excel) required

Language Skills:

  • English required. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and addressing customer requests effectively.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic, including fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to diagnosis and solve problems
  • Ability to solve practical problems and come up with reasonable solution
  • Able to interpret instructions in written and schedule form

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to read a multimeter to measure voltage, continuity, and other electrical measurements
  • Ability to read a tape measure/ruler in inches, to include increments of 1/16 inch and/or millimeters, to include increments of 1mm.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand basic mechanical and electrical drawings
