Malibu’s Product Development Engineering team is seeking a student for an 8-month Internship opportunity. The student must live near or be willing to relocate within driving distance from the plant that is in Loudon, TN. Start/completion dates listed below:
- Start date: May 2025, end of spring semester. Completion date: December 2025
As part of Malibu’s Product Development team, students will have the opportunity to assist in the generation, validation, and development of new designs and innovations for Malibu and Axis Boats. Students will work with Malibu’s Mechanical, Electrical, Naval, and Industrial Engineers. The position includes responsibilities that will allow students to build upon their current engineering foundation and passion for the marine industry and water sports. They will be challenged to identify opportunities for product improvements, manufacturing process improvements, and develop designs to enhance the fit/form/function of current and new products.
Qualifications
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Minimum of 2 years towards a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, electrical, or related engineering field
• Proficient in driving, docking, and trailering boats required
• Computer design experience in CAD modeling (AutoCAD, Siemens NX, and Solidworks) preferred
• Strong skills with hand tools and mechanical devices required

• Lift/carry up to 50lbs
• Frequently climb in/out of boats on trailers and at boat ramps
• Crawl in/out of small spaces in boats (i.e. engine compartment)
• Frequently bend at waist; squat; climb ladders and stairs; kneel on ground; reach above shoulder
Work Environment:
• Typical 8 to 10-hour workdays, 5 days/week with occasional overtime
• Required to work indoors and outdoors, year-round, and in all weather conditions
• Independent and collaborative work environments are both common
